Before we dive into the specifics, could you introduce yourself and share a bit about your background and the experiences that have shaped your path in entrepreneurship?

I’m Kadeisha Placide, a Beauty & Wellness Entrepreneur passionate about the connection between mind, body, and soul. My journey began with a background in psychology, which I’ve integrated into my work to help individuals live purpose-driven lives.

I grew up in a salon, immersed in the world of beauty and entrepreneurship from an early age. In 2018, I became the owner of Classic Beauty Studio, a family-run business I operate alongside my parents and two younger brothers. Together, we’ve built a space that redefines clean and inclusive beauty while fostering generational wealth and legacy.

In 2022, I launched Women In Power Wellness, a platform dedicated to supporting busy women—especially Women of Color—through networking, healing, and self-growth. My experiences have also led to features in Essence and Refinery29 and the opportunity to contribute as a board member for Brooklyn’s Business Improvement District, where I work to shape the local business landscape.

These experiences, alongside my family’s legacy and the values instilled from growing up in the salon, have shaped my entrepreneurial path and fuel my mission to empower others through beauty, wellness, and meaningful connections.

What inspired you to pursue your current career, and what were some of the key milestones along the way?

Growing up in my family’s salon inspired my passion for beauty and wellness. Taking over Classic Beauty Studio in 2018 was a significant milestone, allowing me to integrate clean beauty practices while working alongside my parents and brothers to build generational wealth. In 2022, I founded Women In Power Wellness to create a space for women, particularly Women of Color, to heal and thrive. A highlight of this journey is our annual Run The World event, which brings together women to celebrate empowerment and wellness. These experiences, along with features in publications like Essence and my work with Brooklyn's Business Improvement District, have shaped my path.

What are some red flags people should look out for when entering your industry?

1. Unclear Values or Practices: Businesses or collaborations that lack transparency in their operations, ingredient sourcing, or ethical standards can be a concern. It's essential to work with brands and partners that align with your values.

2. Overpromising Results: Be cautious of professionals or companies that guarantee overnight success or unrealistic outcomes. True results in beauty and wellness come from consistency and integrity.

3. Lack of Focus on Education: In an industry that's ever-evolving, staying informed is crucial. Beware of environments that don’t prioritize ongoing learning, training, or certification.

4. Burnout Culture: Organizations or roles that prioritize profit over well-being, pushing relentless hours without regard for self-care, are unsustainable and can quickly lead to burnout.

5. Surface-Level Connections: Relationships built solely on transactional exchanges rather than genuine, long-term collaboration can hinder growth and authenticity in your career.

Being aware of these red flags can help you establish a solid foundation and build a career aligned with your purpose and vision.

What practices or activities outside of work have helped you grow professionally?

Outside of work, several practices have supported my professional growth. My faith provides guidance and clarity, helping me stay grounded. Engaging with my community has been crucial for learning and staying connected to others. I also prioritize walking, journaling, and working out, as they help me maintain balance, clear my mind, and stay energized. Finally, embracing love and nurturing relationships has taught me invaluable lessons in leadership, collaboration, and empathy, all of which enhance my work.

What’s a personal habit or mindset shift that helped you overcome difficult situations?

A key mindset shift that has helped me overcome difficult situations is embracing adaptability and purpose-driven thinking. Growing up in a family-run salon taught me the importance of resilience and creativity in solving challenges. When I assumed ownership of Classic Beauty Studio in 2018, I faced the dual challenge of modernizing the business while preserving its legacy. Similarly, launching Women In Power Wellness required me to trust the process, focus on my mission, and create a space that uplifts others. Staying grounded in my purpose and leaning on faith and community have been instrumental in turning challenges into growth opportunities.

What trends do you see shaping the future of your industry, and how are you adapting to them?

The beauty and wellness industries are being shaped by trends like clean beauty, inclusivity, and holistic wellness. Clients increasingly seek products and services that prioritize health, sustainability, and cultural representation. At Classic Beauty Studio, we've embraced these shifts by using plant-based, toxin-free products and creating a luxe experience tailored to individuals of color. Through Women In Power Wellness, we’re aligning with the growing demand for wellness-centered communities by hosting events like our annual "Run the World Summit", which combines beauty, self-care, and empowerment. Staying ahead means listening to our audience, leveraging technology, and continuing to provide spaces that foster connection, confidence, and self-alignment.

What’s one resource you wish you had access to earlier in your career?

One resource I wish I had access to earlier in my career is a dedicated network of coaching, mentorship, and faith-based counsel. Having access to experienced mentors to guide my professional growth, coaches to help me navigate business challenges, and a faith council to provide spiritual grounding would have been invaluable. These resources not only offer practical advice but also help in aligning career ambitions with purpose, something that has become a cornerstone of my journey today. Now, I prioritize creating these spaces for others through my work with Women In Power Wellness.

What impact do you hope to leave on your industry or community through your work?

I hope to leave a lasting impact by creating spaces where individuals, particularly women of color, can thrive in both beauty and wellness. My goal is to help redefine industry standards to be more inclusive, holistic, and empowering. By providing resources for personal growth, mental wellness, and professional development, I aim to inspire confidence and self-alignment in others. I want to build a legacy of community and generational wealth, showing that success can be rooted in both individual achievement and collective empowerment.
