Wow that's very impressive, with all those years in the field What are some key lessons you've learned through your journey that weren't obvious when you started?

Paperwork is so key and legal expenses are necessary. Setting clear expectations between business partners from the start and not assuming anything. Be careful when giving away equity, and allow people to prove themselves first. Skill stacking is such a great asset to your growth - my career has been very untraditional, and I have learned so many different career paths in the process, that add to what I do now.

For example, I am a creative, and I am a connector, I have forged my path from music videos and advertising to helping companies that are changing the world fundraise by using my unique viewpoint to create something special. You become more of a unicorn in your field because you have contacts, skills, or understanding that many others in the same field won’t.

Let's get inside Lucy's head, What’s a personal habit or mindset shift that helped you overcome difficult situations?

There is a blessing and a lesson in everything. When faced with failure, take the time to evaluate—what went wrong, and what could have been done differently to prevent it from happening again? No matter the outcome, be grateful; every experience is preparing you for something greater. Sometimes, God may send rain on your prayers so you have fertile land to grow. This mindset switches you from thinking life is happening to you, to abundance and opportunity surrounding you.

What is one thing about your industry that you wish more people knew or understood?

Relationships are everything. Networking is everything. You could have all the knowledge in the world, but without visibility, opportunities may never come your way. People need to know who you are and what you bring to the table. So get out there, make connections, and build your personal brand!

For all the people who maybe where you were, What’s one resource you wish you had access to earlier in your career?

A mentor where I could ask for guidance and advice when I was lost, and honestly, The Diary Of A CEO podcast - it has invaluable lessons and information that is in there for free. I didn’t learn business in a traditional sense, so having those things now have been really pivotal in my journey.

How has your definition of success evolved over time?

I used to believe success was all about reaching the end goal, a financial goal. But I’ve learned that it’s not just about that—it’s about the journey itself and all the wins along the way. If you can find happiness in the process, rather than fixating on the end goal, you’re truly winning in life.

Before we wrap up, What do you hope people take away from your story or experiences?

If they could take away one thing, I hope that it is mentality, and having a positive outlook on life is imperative to being an entrepreneur and finding success. If you are struggling with that, get into therapy, do affirmations, meditate, and attend workshops—do anything to shift your mindset to find positivity in even the biggest failures to keep your momentum and drive strong. A strong mental state in business is so key!
